Who we are

The Irish Red Cross was first established in the Limerick Area in 1940, when the Limerick City Branch was founded. Now over sixty years later, we have 10 Branches in Limerick, and operates a fleet of 4 fully-equipped road ambulances, 2 off-road ambulances, a minibus, operations support vehicle as well as a bike support unit with two mountain bikes. We devote our time as volunteers, to providing a number of essential services to the residents and businesses of our community.

These services include instruction in First Aid at all levels from Practical and Occupational First Aid to Emergency Medical Technician, the provision of a transport service to the elderly, First Aid and Ambulance cover at large public events and twenty-four hour backup to the statutory ambulance service in the event of a major emergency.

As part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we endeavour to abide by the Seven Principles of the Red Cross; Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. We can draw on the many skills of our members to help us provide the best possible service, to our biggest clients... you, the community.
