Who we are
The
Irish Red Cross was first established in the Limerick Area in 1940, when
the Limerick City Branch was founded. Now over sixty years later, we have
six Branches in Limerick, and operates a fleet of five fully-equipped
ambulances. We devote our time as volunteers, to providing a number of
essential services to the residents and businesses of our community.
These services include instruction in
Basic and Occupational First Aid, the provision of a transport service
to the elderly, First Aid and Ambulance cover at large public events and
twenty-four hour backup to the statutory ambulance service in the event
of a major emergency.
As part of the International Red Cross
and Red Crescent Movement, we ende avour
to abide by the Seven Principles of the Red Cross; Humanity, Impartiality,
Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. We
can draw on the many skills of our members to help us provide the best
possible service, to our biggest clients... you, the community.
