What we do

The Irish Red Cross in Limerick offer a number of services to the public. As well as our training and first aid cover services, we also offer a number of other community services.

Red Cross members support the elderly and disabled in their areas, by providing services such as:

  • Transport to day care centres and patient transfers
  • Chiropody services
  • Outings & Socials
  • Laundry services
  • Support to persons with special needs, and
  • Hospital visits

The Society provides a 'Carers Course' for its own members and the public, in order to train people in how to care for a sick or elderly relative at home.

Our Therapeutic Hand Care course trains people in simple hand massage and manicure. Hand Care Volunteers can then spend some time with an elderly person while providing this service. This course attracts many members of the public, who then become Red Cross Handcare Volunteers.

If you are interested in finding out some more about Red Cross Community Services, or would like to offer your time as a volunteer, then please email info@limerickredcross.org, or contact us directly using the details provided in our contact us section.
